Roll for inside one we get a one Laughs are high the stakes are dumb we'll come to chaos, we just beg.

Speaker B:

This is Chad.

Speaker A:

One and done.

Speaker A:

Chat One and done.

Speaker A:

Legends fall and rise for fun One bad robot we don't run, we fight through fire and the setting sun.

Speaker A:

Chat One and done.

Speaker C:

Welcome to Chat One and Done, the podcast where we ask super weird questions, and most of the times we get super absurd answers.

Speaker C:

This is also the podcast where we ask questions, but we also refuse to overthink it.

Speaker C:

I'm your host, Rudy, and today we are joined by Scud from Fireball Studios.

Speaker C:

Today he joined us, but I don't know if he agreed to do it knowingly or not.

Speaker C:

Either way, he's here.

Speaker C:

Hey, Scud.

Speaker C:

How you doing today, man?

Speaker B:

I'm good.

Speaker B:

My.

Speaker B:

My agent booked this for me.

Speaker B:

I have no idea what I walked into.

Speaker C:

Oh, yeah, we had to bribe him.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, we had to grease the

Speaker C:

palm a little bit to get you on here.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he doesn't even believe in money, so I don't know what he's going to do with it.

Speaker C:

I mean, we paid him an old peppermint candies, man.

Speaker C:

We got you, though.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker B:

He does like those.

Speaker D:

Okay, that answered my question because I was going to say we have nothing in the coffers.

Speaker E:

Where the fuck did my peppermints go?

Speaker C:

So what I'm hearing is you're catching 10% of that peppermint.

Speaker D:

Where did you get that peppermint from?

Speaker C:

I don't know.

Speaker C:

He's in a jar, says, do not eat.

Speaker E:

Yeah, they might have been a little sticky.

Speaker B:

Terrible.

Speaker C:

All right, Scott, if you want to just go ahead and tell everybody what you do over on Instagram just for our listeners.

Speaker B:

So I am.

Speaker B:

Most of the year, I am a meme page.

Speaker B:

I repost a lot of D and D memes.

Speaker B:

Every once in a while, I go on a big run and make a bunch of original ones, but for the most part, I'm resharing or finding good ones that are said to be and republishing them.

Speaker B:

Other parts of the year, though, I am doing Kickstarter projects and I am writing homebrew content that I do either on Kickstarter or DriveThruRPG.

Speaker B:

So half of the year it feels like I am a homebrew posting account.

Speaker B:

The other half of the year is just memes you probably sent your friends 3 months ago, forgot about, and then you saw them again and Got caught back in the cycle of it all.

Speaker C:

Hell yeah, dude, I, I can relate to that.

Speaker C:

I, I run our social.

Speaker C:

I run our social and I was like, I don't want to repost stuff that I've like, I've seen.

Speaker C:

I want to come up with my own.

Speaker C:

So I go and I create like like crazy like little clips and shit or like, like little silly and they're up on our page.

Speaker C:

But as of lately, like I remember, I remember this exact moment.

Speaker C:

I had made like, I want to say maybe like 25 memes in the span of maybe like three days.

Speaker C:

And I was want to have them in the bank so I can put them up whenever we need them or just post something.

Speaker C:

And I was exhausted, dude.

Speaker C:

So my spelling is off on them and then everybody just has the comment, dude.

Speaker C:

Yeah, like it's this.

Speaker C:

I was like, I thought it was pronounced this way.

Speaker C:

I was like, what does this mean then if it's not pronounced this way?

Speaker C:

I like it means that the public education system failed me.

Speaker C:

I think that's what that means.

Speaker B:

I think it's one of the best ways to up your engagement is to just misspell one word very easily.

Speaker B:

And then there's like five comments instantaneously from posting it.

Speaker B:

They're just like, oh, you, you misspelled this word.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I thought the DND community was supposed to be open and loving.

Speaker C:

I was like, you guys are picking on me.

Speaker B:

That's not true at all.

Speaker C:

You misspelled president.

Speaker C:

You're gatekeeping Thaumaturgy.

Speaker C:

Really, man.

Speaker C:

This.

Speaker C:

I'm going home.

Speaker C:

You know what?

Speaker C:

You guys get no memes now.

Speaker C:

Blocked.

Speaker C:

My fault.

Speaker D:

I pronounced it Thomatoturgy.

Speaker B:

Yeah, dude.

Speaker C:

I think just one dude went on a rant.

Speaker C:

I was like, all seem like you're going to show up and murder me over a.

Speaker C:

A misspelled word.

Speaker C:

I'm going to go ahead and block you there, bud.

Speaker B:

Dude, there's actually, there's people like that I found Instagram is for the most part okay with like memes they don't agree with.

Speaker B:

But I've posted on like the D and D meme subreddit and I thought it was just like a mid level, not that funny kind of funny meme.

Speaker C:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

And dude, I'll get some of the most just upset people that were just like, like I, I found a photo of a guy that had like 11 fingers one time and I put a, a letter on like each knuckle.

Speaker B:

Like he was like, it's a tough looking something I can't Remember what it said?

Speaker B:

But it was something like, I'm going to smite.

Speaker B:

And I was like, oh, that's 11 letters.

Speaker B:

I need an 11th finger.

Speaker B:

And that was the whole joke.

Speaker B:

And that's all I got published.

Speaker B:

And people were just like, what race of fantasy creature has 11 fingers on this?

Speaker B:

And I was like, this is.

Speaker B:

This is just a meme.

Speaker B:

And they're like, this is really stupid because no one has 11 fingers.

Speaker C:

I was like.

Speaker B:

And I was just like, it's just.

Speaker B:

It's just a meme.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker C:

But that's always the funny.

Speaker C:

Like, who would Edge is living.

Speaker C:

Feels like, fuck, my bad.

Speaker C:

I'll write on my fucking nipple next time.

Speaker C:

My bad.

Speaker C:

Yeah, the fuck you want from me?

Speaker B:

They get very upset for no reason.

Speaker B:

And it's.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker C:

Dude, same shit, dude.

Speaker C:

Like, I'll get like, they'll fucking, like, insult me or some shells.

Speaker C:

Like, yo, it's joke.

Speaker C:

It ain't that serious.

Speaker C:

And it's nothing bad.

Speaker C:

It's just like, me being silly.

Speaker C:

Like, oh, I want to play math rocks with my friends.

Speaker C:

Like, actually, they're mainly plastic and resin.

Speaker C:

Like, shut up.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker C:

Like, I have to go and I have to talk to cj and he has to talk me off a ledge.

Speaker C:

He's like, hey, like, calm down, dude.

Speaker C:

It ain't that serious.

Speaker C:

I was like, these motherfuckers making fun of me.

Speaker C:

I was like, you know what?

Speaker C:

I gotta calm down.

Speaker B:

I didn't realize how.

Speaker B:

The first time I really realized how aggressive they would get was I posted a meme with, like.

Speaker B:

It was like the scientist guy, he's got, like, a vial and he's like, you know, like, rolling it around or whatever.

Speaker B:

And they're like, finally, we've came up with the.

Speaker B:

All these years of research, we've developed the cure.

Speaker B:

And in the background, you could see there was, like, how to talk or speak with plants, speak with animals.

Speaker B:

And in his hand he had how to speak with women.

Speaker B:

And I was like, this is just stupid.

Speaker B:

It's stupid.

Speaker B:

Oh, my God.

Speaker B:

The amount of people that were like, I actually play every DD session with three women.

Speaker B:

I know how to talk to them.

Speaker B:

Or my wife is in every session and she saw this and she hates you.

Speaker B:

And I'm like, I.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's not like, break your fucking legs.

Speaker B:

It's just silly.

Speaker B:

Instagram received it really well.

Speaker B:

Subreddit hated it.

Speaker B:

They, yeah, dude, Reddit.

Speaker C:

You will find some of the most hateful people you've ever met.

Speaker B:

For real.

Speaker B:

I avoided at this point.

Speaker B:

Except for promoting things.

Speaker C:

I was like, if I got to promote, I'm not.

Speaker C:

I'm promoting on everything.

Speaker D:

But Reddit seems like the only friendly threads on Reddit are for like, PC building.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, dude.

Speaker C:

I don't want to get doxed over a DND meme.

Speaker C:

I want to get swatted.

Speaker B:

There's a few subreddits out there that are very small.

Speaker B:

Like there's one I just joined called.

Speaker B:

I think it's RPG creation.

Speaker B:

And it's just a bunch of guys that make TTRPGs or stuff like that or have questions or mechanic rules they want to implement but don't know how to write.

Speaker B:

They're super chill and they are all super friendly.

Speaker B:

That is the only one I will go to and actually try to be active in everything else.

Speaker B:

I'm just like, I might look at it real quick and then I leave.

Speaker B:

I don't try to engage.

Speaker B:

I don't want anything to do with it.

Speaker C:

Smart, smart.

Speaker E:

Because they let all their hatred out in the other subreddits.

Speaker B:

That makes sense.

Speaker C:

In the D and D subreddit, I find that we can break D and D into two schools.

Speaker C:

Like the old school, like the old guard is.

Speaker C:

Is like the harden, like playing like 15 plus years.

Speaker C:

And they're like, oh, no, fuck that.

Speaker C:

It's stupid.

Speaker C:

They were gay keeping this.

Speaker C:

And then like the newer schools, like, I just want to be friends with everybody.

Speaker C:

Quite literally.

Speaker C:

It's fucking Weenie Hut Junior.

Speaker C:

And then that other one where it's like all the scary bikers and shit.

Speaker C:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

That's exactly what it is.

Speaker C:

I could.

Speaker C:

That's how we break down D and D. There's no in between.

Speaker C:

You either have those players or you have the super really nice ones that want to be friends with everybody.

Speaker C:

They want to stop and make every character an npc.

Speaker D:

I speak like I'm from the Salty Spittoon.

Speaker D:

You're.

Speaker C:

You may be the only, like, middle one because you.

Speaker B:

Because he's the bouncer from Salty Splatoon.

Speaker C:

Yeah, he.

Speaker C:

That's.

Speaker C:

That's how.

Speaker C:

He's the bouncer from the Salty Spittoon.

Speaker C:

But then he goes and he.

Speaker C:

When he's off shift, he goes and hangs out at Weenie Hut Junior.

Speaker B:

It goes over there to drink.

Speaker C:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

Do that.

Speaker C:

Terrible.

Speaker C:

All right, man.

Speaker C:

So you said that you do some like, of your own homebrew stuff.

Speaker C:

You want to go ahead and like, let us know.

Speaker C:

Some, like, some of the stuff that you do.

Speaker C:

Like, what's like the last session that you ran, what, what was like about like, what's the world situation in this?

Speaker B:

So I feel like I'm probably the only person that does their content and creation wise this way.

Speaker B:

e:

Speaker B:

I haven't played it.

Speaker B:

And maybe.

Speaker B:

What year is it?

Speaker B:

26 now.

Speaker B:

God is probably.

Speaker B:

Let's see, we're in our Pathfinder 1e campaign.

Speaker B:

We've been playing it for the last four to five years now.

Speaker B:

And we didn't play.

Speaker B:

We stopped playing D and D right after I started writing that.

Speaker B:

So I kind of ran into this problem.

Speaker B:

So I started writing a world setting for fantasy and I didn't know what system I originally wanted to kind of like put it into.

Speaker B:

But at first I was just writing the story in the outline and I was like, I can at least do this.

Speaker B:

I can always modify it to a game later.

Speaker B:

It doesn't matter.

Speaker B:

And We've been playing 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e for so long that I was kind of like, well, you know, I don't know.

Speaker B:

I don't really want to, like, run sessions with my content.

Speaker B:

I was like, I'm kind of like, so locked into this AP that we've been running.

Speaker B:

We're finally in book six now.

Speaker B:

We're almost at the end of five years of it.

Speaker B:

And I was like, well, you know, five is really easy to work with and make homebrew content for.

Speaker B:

So I'm just going to write it for that.

Speaker B:

So I have to like, all the time be like, am I thinking of a Pathfinder rule?

Speaker B:

Or is this how it works in 5e?

Speaker B:

And it's constantly like that.

Speaker B:

And now I'm learning, like, how to play Shadow Dark and it's constantly like, am I remembering how spells work in 5e when I'm writing for 5e spellcasters?

Speaker B:

Or am I thinking of how they work in shadowdark?

Speaker B:

Or is there like defensive casting like there is in Pathfinder?

Speaker B:

And it's like I have to like, go back and watch podcast groups to like, listen to them play a little bit and be like, okay, that's how they.

Speaker B:

That's how they do these.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

But the world is called.

Speaker B:

Or the series is called Gray Steel and I am on my third Kickstarter project currently for it.

Speaker B:

I had a dream one night and it was just this wild, acid, like, dream, and I don't even think I ate anything before I went to bed.

Speaker B:

And I woke up and I was like, I Have to write all this down just real quick.

Speaker B:

So it was very sloppy notes.

Speaker B:

And I wrote down like these, these deities and how it shaped the world and all these like ideas that I had from it and everything.

Speaker B:

And then I was talking to a few other content creators.

Speaker B:

If you're on Instagram a lot and you follow memes, you probably follow 46 drop the lowest.

Speaker B:

Him and his group make a ton of 5e homebrew and they've been doing so for a long time.

Speaker B:

They're called the Aaron Chronicles.

Speaker B:

And I was talking to them and I was like, listen guys, I've been doing this like 5e homebrew stuff for years now.

Speaker B:

And I was like, I'm not really seeing any success on like DMs Guild drive thru RPG.

Speaker B:

Maybe I sell like one to two of these things.

Speaker B:

Like what do you guys think I should do?

Speaker B:

And they were like, we just did our first Kickstarter and made like.

Speaker B:

I want to say they made like close to $300,000 on it.

Speaker B:

Like a four to five person team.

Speaker B:

Like they, they, they make content and they were like, we made, we did way, way, way better over there.

Speaker B:

They were like, we make you big a couple hundred bucks on our stuff.

Speaker B:

On like DMs Guild, they're like, we think you should just pivot and try Kickstarter.

Speaker B:

Which terrified me because there's so much more pressure and time and build up for it that I was like, okay, maybe I'll do it.

Speaker B:

And they put me in touch with a few people they've worked with before that do $1 projects which are supposed to be like, I think like 10 to 12 pages worth of content.

Speaker B:

But my first one, I want to say that was like a 27 page thing I did.

Speaker B:

It was focused in my world of Graysteel, it was called the Morning Queen.

Speaker B:

And it focused on a tragic heroes that basically all the people in her life started slowly dying.

Speaker B:

And she was this like very powerful divine user.

Speaker B:

And towards the end of her story her, she was a queen.

Speaker B:

And her kingdom kind of like rebelled against her because she, she lost her son, she lost her.

Speaker B:

Her husband who was the king.

Speaker B:

Her dad was like a big mentor and her advisor.

Speaker B:

And he passed away and she kind of like lost herself and she came back as this Divine Lich.

Speaker B:

And I wrote out like these specific rules like how they work or differ from a regular lich.

Speaker B:

Like they can cast divine magic with arcane, but the way their lichdom works is almost different because they don't, they don't tie Themselves down to a phylacraty as much they.

Speaker B:

They kind of are their own philacity.

Speaker B:

So it's like.

Speaker B:

It was a really weird thing, but that was like the premise.

Speaker B:

I was writing around and put it out there.

Speaker B:

I think we hit about 200 to $300 when I just put it out there as a $1 product.

Speaker B:

And I had a lot of people come in there and put just buy like bigger packages than they needed to.

Speaker B:

And I was like, this is fantastic.

Speaker B:

Like, it felt like I was actually making content that was going to finally get played before this.

Speaker B:

I was making stuff and I feel like I would sell one to two copies and it would just sit on the shelves.

Speaker B:

And I was like this, this kind of sucks.

Speaker B:

I was like, not that I want to sell a bunch of copies, but I was like, I would like it at least if I knew somebody bought it and would tell me if it was good or bad.

Speaker B:

But the Kickstarter community was very open.

Speaker B:

They're very cool, they're very fun to work with and they're very responsive.

Speaker B:

So everybody I talked to about it afterwards gave me good feedback.

Speaker B:

I knew they actually read it because they would respond with questions about it and I was like, this is fantastic.

Speaker B:

So yeah, it took me about almost 10 years of making 5e homebrew to finally find a spot where you're actually supposed to get the community that, that wants to buy it and actually talk about it and work with it.

Speaker B:

So I think I went way too beyond your, your initial question here.

Speaker B:

But yeah, I'm a guy that writes stuff for 5e and hasn't played it for the last 6 years.

Speaker C:

I like that though.

Speaker C:

You're like, I make, I make it.

Speaker C:

I make 5e but I don't play it.

Speaker C:

I'm like, that's smart.

Speaker C:

You don't get high your own supply.

Speaker D:

Seeing I've, I've, you know, as well been playing since 3.5 all the way up to 5e and I've heard of, we have a co worker that plays Pathfinder and I've heard some of his stories and stats and shit that he can do and it's wild.

Speaker D:

Yeah, I've, I've wanted to try Pathfinder.

Speaker B:

It's, it is a, it is a different beast.

Speaker B:

So my guys, I'm running a campaign for five to six guys.

Speaker B:

Every once in a while.

Speaker B:

The six guy shows up every like four or five months and we kind of get him back into it and then he disappears again.

Speaker B:

But they are currently level 17, most of them, I think the other night we had a Blood Rager which is like a hybrid class they made of barbarian and sorcerer.

Speaker B:

And when he activates all of his abilities and buffs and cast his own spells on himself, he had like a 37 strength and like a 28 con.

Speaker B:

He had like 280 something hit points.

Speaker B:

He had a spell on him called Long Arms, which means he had a reach of like 15ft with a great sword.

Speaker B:

Crazy thing about that.

Speaker B:

He stretched his arms out 10ft long.

Speaker B:

He could fly.

Speaker B:

Like he could do all this.

Speaker B:

I'm like, this is crazy.

Speaker B:

But then they're fighting things like a great worm, which is like the oldest a dragon can be.

Speaker B:

And the dragons like it can like drop from the air and pin characters to the ground and like lock them in.

Speaker B:

Instead of just having a breath weapon, it can create a pool of its breath weapon instead that lingers on the field.

Speaker B:

A lot of like high tier dragons and Pathfinder cast magic.

Speaker B:

So like I think the, the dragon itself had a 45ac and the blood Rager was the only one that hit it the entire fight.

Speaker B:

The other four to five guys that I had were just trying to buff and stay alive and keep moving around the battlefield.

Speaker B:

And it was like I felt bad, but I was like if you guys had a wizard you could maybe dispel it, but you don't.

Speaker B:

So it's kind of just a, let's see who just beats the out of each other first kind of combat, which is very fun that there's no wizards to kind of like almost cheat around it.

Speaker B:

Everybody that I have in my group is almost a martial guy, but one, he is, it's a beast.

Speaker B:

It's I think most fun around the third book level, which is around I think like 12.

Speaker B:

I think that is where it is peak.

Speaker B:

After that it starts to get into.

Speaker B:

I'm starting to get like extraordinary abilities and powers and the game is moving at such a high level and we're fighting things that have 30 +ac.

Speaker B:

They can dip and dive out of reality, they can appear or do crazy abilities.

Speaker B:

Everyone can cast magic, everybody can repel magic.

Speaker B:

And it's like a combat for us last, I don't know, three to four hours.

Speaker B:

And it's like that was a 1v5 and it's like what are you guys going to do when it's a 2v5?

Speaker B:

Are we going to be out here for eight hours just grinding combat?

Speaker B:

So I'm kind of scared to see what the end of the book is going to be like.

Speaker B:

But it has been it's been such a journey to start, to finish this.

Speaker E:

That sounds terrifying.

Speaker B:

It is.

Speaker E:

The Barbarian caster.

Speaker E:

How does that work?

Speaker E:

Like, stat wise, how do you balance that?

Speaker B:

So I think you can.

Speaker B:

The cool thing about Pathfinder is it's almost like you're building a Skyrim character.

Speaker B:

So, you know, like when you load in Skyrim for your 50th save and you're like, this guy's going to be a magic guy.

Speaker B:

He's going to use just destruction magic.

Speaker B:

But then you find a really cool sword in the beginning and you're like, oh, probably going to like, let's switch lanes.

Speaker B:

I think I'm going to use a sword and a little bit of magic.

Speaker B:

And then you're like, I'm a little bit more melee now than I am magic.

Speaker B:

Blood Rager because it has the optional kind of both ways.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

It leans more barbarian with what I've read on his class.

Speaker B:

But all of his spells are usually enhancements or buffs that only he can apply to himself.

Speaker B:

So it's kind of like, oh, what's that?

Speaker B:

Really Overpowered five.

Speaker B:

Because it's.

Speaker B:

It's Sorcerer Paladin, right?

Speaker E:

The Circadian.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So imagine that that's kind of like what a Blood Rager plays.

Speaker B:

Like where while he's raging, he can cast his spells that only affect him, I believe, is what it is.

Speaker B:

But like, in.

Speaker B:

In Pathfinder, there really isn't concentration on spells.

Speaker B:

And when we went back as a group and played Baldur's Gate 3, I forgot that that was the thing I think I hated the most in 5e is how almost every single spell has concentration tied to it.

Speaker B:

Because, like, I looked at the stat sheet the other night after the combat and he had like five buffs on him at all time.

Speaker B:

And I was like, if we were playing five, I was like, he'd have the main one he's concentrating on and mage armor.

Speaker B:

And besides that, it's like I.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

Blood Ranger is a weird class, but it's very cool.

Speaker B:

From what I've seen.

Speaker E:

It sounds sick.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

He had.

Speaker B:

When I tell you, like, there's little buff tabs on roll.

Speaker B:

20 for the Pathfinder sheets.

Speaker B:

He had, I think, 20 buffs that he had, like custom made.

Speaker B:

And I think 11 of them were check marked.

Speaker B:

And I was like, jesus Christ, man.

Speaker B:

How do you even keep up with this at that point?

Speaker E:

Yeah, I never touched, seen or really heard much about Pathfinder.

Speaker E:

You mentioned defensive casting.

Speaker E:

How does that work?

Speaker B:

So in Pathfinder, I don't think this exists.

Speaker B:

In 5e.

Speaker B:

And it's something I've had to check myself on multiple times.

Speaker B:

So, you know, I'll ask you guys, if I am next to an opponent, can I cast a spell without provoking an attack of opportunity?

Speaker D:

There are certain things that you can have or do to make that happen Safer.

Speaker B:

Okay, so in Pathfinder, if you are in a threatened square or a square that a creature threatens and you cast a spell, they automatically get to make an attack of opportunity or an AO at you.

Speaker B:

If you want to cast a spell but not provoke an attack of opportunity, you have to roll casting defensively.

Speaker B:

Think of that as like you've got your sword and Skyrim out kind of pointed at the guy, but in your other hand, you're doing all of your components and you're saying your champ, but you're kind of like a little reserved rather than doing the full thing.

Speaker B:

So you make a. I believe it's a caster level check, which that's just whatever level your class is that is casting the spell from plus your modifier, I believe.

Speaker B:

And the DC you want to hit is I believe it's 15 plus double the spell's level.

Speaker B:

So if I wanted to, like, cast defensively cast a second level spell, I would need to beat a DC.

Speaker B:

I think that's 19.

Speaker B:

If I did my math right in my head and if I'm remembering all the rules right.

Speaker B:

So then you roll that.

Speaker B:

And if you're.

Speaker B:

If you succeed, you're allowed to get the spell off for free, like you with.

Speaker B:

Without provoking.

Speaker B:

But if you were to fail it, the.

Speaker B:

Oh, how does it work if you.

Speaker B:

All my guys at this point are so juiced up that they.

Speaker B:

They succeed nearly every single time.

Speaker B:

There's feats you can take to be better at defensively casting too.

Speaker B:

And most of my guys that can do a little bit of it take that feat.

Speaker B:

But I think if you fail.

Speaker B:

Oh, that's right.

Speaker B:

If you.

Speaker B:

If you get hit while you're trying to cast a spell, then you have to make a check, which is essentially the same math, but you add on all the damage you took from the attack to the dc, which means you're most likely to fail the spell.

Speaker B:

Because if it's a DC19 to begin with, but he hits you for like 20 damage, all of a sudden it became.

Speaker B:

Becomes a 39 DC, which becomes nearly impossible.

Speaker B:

And that's just like something that happens at like level one.

Speaker B:

That's just like a level one rule you have to learn.

Speaker B:

It's like, if I'm in range and I can get hit from an aoo.

Speaker B:

I have to learn how to cast offensively.

Speaker B:

And so we learned the game through podcasts.

Speaker B:

Are you guys good if I plug another show?

Speaker C:

Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker B:

So their name is the Glass Cannon podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm a stupidly big fan of theirs.

Speaker B:

during College and throughout:

Speaker B:

But they got us into Pathfinder 1e and while my friends were listening to Critical Role, I was listening to them because I always felt like I needed to watch Critical Role.

Speaker B:

I couldn't just like listen to it as an audio show.

Speaker B:

So I listened to a podcast group which was the Glass Cannon and they only played 5e or I'm sorry, they only played Pathfinder 1st Edition.

Speaker B:

And they just like roasted 5e the whole time.

Speaker B:

And I was like, well, I gotta know what's so good about this game that they're playing over the other one.

Speaker B:

And after listening to him for a while, I was like, dude, I think this is just the better game.

Speaker B:

I was like, the combat just sounds so much more in depth and cool characters, like really good at what you want them to do.

Speaker B:

There's less like you just get advantage on a thing and there's more like this is a hard DC and you just get better bonuses as your character grows.

Speaker B:

And a lot of us really vibe with that in game.

Speaker B:

So like I had a guy in 5e who played a monk as the first character he ever made and he had a pretty rough time because he was like, I always feel like I'm never hitting.

Speaker B:

He's like, I always feel like I'm always getting hit.

Speaker B:

And he's like, I just feel like my character just moves fast because I can't get enough stat points in all of my attributes to do like a perfectly well rounded character.

Speaker B:

And we rolled for stats too.

Speaker B:

So he was like, I feel like I rolled bad.

Speaker B:

I feel like the other guys rolled better.

Speaker B:

And I was trying to see if he'd be interested in playing and he's like, dude, I don't know, I don't think I even want to play tabletop games anymore.

Speaker B:

Because 5e just like being a monk really put a sour taste in my mouth.

Speaker B:

And I was like, that's.

Speaker B:

I get that.

Speaker B:

And I was like, but like, let me show you how to make a character in 1e and then maybe you'll.

Speaker B:

Maybe you'll like it.

Speaker B:

Maybe you'll see like you can put your skill ranks every level you get into the skills you want to be good at and Your character actually feels like he's progressing and getting better at the things he actually does.

Speaker B:

And he is the only guy in my campaign that has played his character from day one to now.

Speaker B:

Everybody else has died or lost a character and had to remake it.

Speaker B:

So he's been there from the entire stretch.

Speaker B:

And he's like, I fucking love this game.

Speaker B:

He's like, my character does what he does and he's good at it.

Speaker B:

But he.

Speaker B:

You do kind of have to get a little min Maxi.

Speaker B:

In Pathfinder.

Speaker B:

There's a point where you're like, I got to make a character that is good at what he does.

Speaker B:

But usually a lot of characters and classes are designed that way to have a bad side.

Speaker B:

To give an example, they fought this great worm a session ago, and they have a fighter that is just a archer that is this whole thing.

Speaker B:

And immediately into the first round of combat, he falls for a hallucination terrain from the dragon and he's just stuck in a mace the entire combat.

Speaker B:

And he rolls like a two and then a.

Speaker B:

For a total, and then like a six and a nine and a four.

Speaker B:

And he's like, I'm never gonna get out.

Speaker B:

He didn't do anything the entire fight.

Speaker B:

He just stayed stuck in the woods and he couldn't get out of it.

Speaker B:

And he was like, this sucks.

Speaker B:

The next combat, no magic is cast on him.

Speaker B:

He's doing like, I don't know, 25 to 50 damage a shot.

Speaker B:

And he gets like seven attacks around because he's a fighter and he has a buffs for it and everything.

Speaker B:

And it's like, the game is fun because there's really good drawbacks, but while there's really good drawbacks, there's also really good bonuses that the game plays with, so.

Speaker B:

And I haven't had to homebrew anything.

Speaker B:

I haven't had to like adjust anything.

Speaker B:

We pretty much played exactly word for word, but playing other tabletop games makes it so much fun to revisit 5e and go.

Speaker B:

We really liked how it worked in this one system, but we thought it would be better if we tweaked it just a little bit for 5e.

Speaker B:

Like we took.

Speaker B:

Oh, shoot, I know I've taken something from it.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker B:

In my last Kickstarter project I did, I focused on like the.

Speaker B:

The orcs of my setting.

Speaker B:

And in that I implemented exotic weapons.

Speaker B:

So if you usually have Marshall, what is it?

Speaker B:

Martial.

Speaker B:

What is it?

Speaker B:

Simple martial.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's it for 5e.

Speaker B:

It's just simple and martial weapons.

Speaker B:

There's now Exotic weapons.

Speaker B:

And I put in a feature where some people can like depending on which race you choose or your class, you come in with the proficiency for a specific one exotic weapon.

Speaker B:

And then I put, I think there were five or six exotic weapons in there, but I also included something where you can train every long rest with certain conditions to learn exotic weapon proficiencies.

Speaker B:

And I first saw those in 5e because the guy that's played from start to finish his initial class that he locked in as was ninja.

Speaker B:

And he came in and he had two wakazashis which are just actual in game weapons, but they are exotic weapons.

Speaker B:

So if you don't have an exotic proficiency, you can't use them properly.

Speaker B:

Wakazashi's I think crit on like an 18 to 20 as just a natural weapon.

Speaker B:

But if you don't have the proficiency, they don't get the crit bonus.

Speaker B:

So you create on a natural 20 like everybody else.

Speaker B:

Later on he, he dipped into samurai.

Speaker B:

So he multi classed, he's a samurai ninja.

Speaker B:

He's.

Speaker B:

He is a tri class now, which is a whole other thing because it's a prestige class that I'll never fully understand or want to get into.

Speaker B:

But he got proficiencies for katanas and I was like, okay, well katanas are two handed weapons usually.

Speaker B:

And that's when he hit me with the yes.

Speaker B:

But if you have exotic proficiencies over them, their bonus is that they can, they can be used as one handed weapons now instead of just two handed katanas.

Speaker B:

So he dual wields a one handed katana and a wakazashi in the other hand and does crazy sneak attack damage.

Speaker B:

And I was, when I was making stuff for 5e and I was making stuff for my orcs, I was like, I think it'd be really cool to have them introduce that kind of mechanic as well where there's exotic weapons.

Speaker B:

But the way my exotic weapons work is like they all kind of do something in combat where they gain an additional action to do something.

Speaker B:

Like I have a, it's kind of close to a halberd, but it kind of has like a scythe end on the back, like a short scythe.

Speaker B:

And part of it is that when you go and you do a reach with it to swing at a creature, you can use your bonus to pull them in a little bit and pull them five feet closer.

Speaker B:

But you only get that benefit if you have the exotic proficiencies unlocked and you have to do that per weapon.

Speaker B:

So then you have to like backtrack to the conditions of needing, like, somewhere to properly train with the weapon.

Speaker B:

You need the weapon.

Speaker B:

You have to do a DC every day to see if you learn anything.

Speaker B:

Then you have to, like, get enough points to unlock it.

Speaker B:

But you also need, like, a mentor that can teach you the weapons.

Speaker B:

And I've talked to a few people that got my project, and they're like, I was talking to the other day, and he was like, dude, I'm so excited because I've just created a whole quest line with your Kickstarter project.

Speaker B:

And I was like, this is the first time I've ever really heard somebody say, like, they're exploring my entire project.

Speaker B:

They're like, yeah, we're going to, like, see these orgs.

Speaker B:

I've already implemented where the NPCs in your project are going to be.

Speaker B:

We've got, like, quest lines.

Speaker B:

There's, like, a few exotic people that are going to be able to teach them how to use the weapons.

Speaker B:

I'm like, this is so cool.

Speaker B:

I was like, I've never got, like, to hear someone, like, fully use it.

Speaker B:

Usually they're like, yeah, we're, like, implementing things from it.

Speaker B:

But this guy was, like, fully designing the.

Speaker B:

The whole game around it.

Speaker D:

Oh, damn.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker E:

So sold.

Speaker E:

I'm so sold.

Speaker C:

All right, man, so we're gonna move on to the next segment.

Speaker C:

But before we do, I got one question I love asking everybody.

Speaker C:

Who's on?

Speaker C:

Let's say you're gonna be DMing, like, San Diego Comic Con.

Speaker C:

Okay, main stage, like, everybody's watching you.

Speaker C:

What's your walkout song?

Speaker B:

Oh, my God.

Speaker B:

With my walk outside.

Speaker B:

God, man, that could switch from way to week.

Speaker B:

Hold on.

Speaker B:

I have my Spotify open.

Speaker B:

Okay, there's.

Speaker B:

There's a.

Speaker B:

There's a new indie band that I've.

Speaker B:

I don't know if I can call them indie.

Speaker B:

They're from Japan.

Speaker B:

They have like 16, 000 listens.

Speaker B:

I don't think I can say their name.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna attempt it here.

Speaker B:

Their name is.

Speaker B:

It's all one giant word.

Speaker B:

Ishikino Nai Cranke.

Speaker B:

Cranky.

Speaker B:

And the song is dashing, and it sounds like every sick metal, like, anime opener ever.

Speaker B:

I love it, dude.

Speaker B:

I've listened to it so many times.

Speaker B:

If I.

Speaker B:

If I needed like, a more song that everybody knows, the X Men 97 theme song is one of my favorite epic, like, walking songs.

Speaker B:

It's one of my favorite gym pump songs.

Speaker B:

When I'm ready to deadlift, I. I have a metal X Men 97 theme song prepped and ready to Go.

Speaker C:

That's sick.

Speaker C:

All right, that's pretty good.

Speaker C:

That's a good one.

Speaker E:

You should send us the other one on Instagram.

Speaker C:

Yeah, yeah, I wanna.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I wanna listen to it now.

Speaker C:

You've piqued my interest.

Speaker C:

All right, so we're gonna go ahead and move on to the next segment, which is the game show part of our segment.

Speaker C:

You got your D4 on you?

Speaker B:

I do.

Speaker B:

It's right here.

Speaker C:

All right, wait, hold on.

Speaker C:

We're being flagged down.

Speaker C:

Dante, why are you hiding in the closet other than your own?

Speaker C:

Are you cheating on us?

Speaker E:

I would never see this.

Speaker E:

Broke here.

Speaker E:

Was caught hiding in the tax office ceiling to avoid paying.

Speaker D:

What the fuck did it work?

Speaker E:

For about six hours until he sneezed and then he fell into an audit.

Speaker C:

What are they charging him with?

Speaker E:

Tax evasion, regular evasion, and failure to file.

Speaker D:

That feels a little bit excessive.

Speaker E:

Welcome to the system, cj.

Speaker E:

The only thing that gets screwed hotter than a rogue is anyone who owes back taxes.

Speaker E:

Ask me how I know.

Speaker C:

Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Speaker C:

All right, you got your D4 on you.

Speaker C:

Go ahead and roll that for us, please.

Speaker B:

All right, I got a one.

Speaker B:

That's usually good.

Speaker C:

All right, A one is going to get you.

Speaker C:

I cast identify.

Speaker C:

This is the game where I poorly describe some D and D spells.

Speaker C:

And you guys are going to try to have to guess what it is.

Speaker C:

For all of our new listeners tuning in.

Speaker C:

Dante, swear guy, if you raise that goddamn hand, won't yet.

Speaker C:

For everybody who's a new listener and they're just tuning in.

Speaker C:

How we run this is we have our guests play a head to head game against one of our hosts or both of our hosts.

Speaker C:

This time, if the guests have more wins by the end of the season, CJ owes me dinner.

Speaker C:

But if CJ has more wins than losses before the end of the season, I owe him dinner.

Speaker C:

And right now he is sitting at four wins, five losses.

Speaker C:

So I'm always on the guest side.

Speaker C:

You got the sk.

Speaker B:

Good.

Speaker B:

Okay, let's do this.

Speaker C:

Alrighty.

Speaker C:

So you see at the bottom of the screen where there's a little hand?

Speaker B:

I do.

Speaker C:

Go ahead and give that a click for me.

Speaker C:

That way I can see who's going into the queue.

Speaker C:

Awesome.

Speaker C:

Awesome.

Speaker C:

All right, cj, now do you want to give it a click?

Speaker C:

One.

Speaker C:

I said.

Speaker C:

I said one guest doing it.

Speaker E:

No, my man's good.

Speaker E:

Let's do it.

Speaker C:

Oh, man, you gotta love it.

Speaker C:

All right, so I'm going to go ahead.

Speaker C:

I'm going to go ahead and read the spell, the full spell description.

Speaker C:

And then after I'm done reading it, you guys can put your hand up.

Speaker C:

Whoever's first gets the answer first.

Speaker C:

And that's how we'll hand out points.

Speaker C:

Let me go ahead and get my handy dandy whiteboard out.

Speaker C:

Hand, you say?

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Oh, is it.

Speaker B:

Is it Mage hand?

Speaker C:

All right, you guys, is it Mage hand?

Speaker C:

I'm sorry, I got that one late.

Speaker B:

I was like.

Speaker C:

All right, so the first spell, you unlock the forbidden knowledge that animals have thoughts and that they're all bad.

Speaker C:

The dog is hu.

Speaker C:

Bird is lying, and the rat has beef with you.

Speaker C:

Specifically, Dante.

Speaker E:

Speak with animals.

Speaker C:

That's a point for Dante.

Speaker B:

Oh, we just talked about that one in the meme too.

Speaker B:

I was like, there's no way it was that one.

Speaker E:

Thank you for that, by the way.

Speaker C:

Alrighty, you guys ready for the next one?

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker C:

So someone starts casting a spell and you slap it out of the air like you're Dikembe Mutombo.

Speaker C:

There is no explosion.

Speaker C:

Just silence, eye contact and irreversible beef.

Speaker C:

No, no, no.

Speaker C:

Not in my house.

Speaker C:

Dante, counterspell.

Speaker C:

God damn.

Speaker B:

I thought I needed the weight.

Speaker B:

I was so ready.

Speaker B:

Okay, I've got the third one.

Speaker B:

I've got the third one.

Speaker B:

I'm ready.

Speaker C:

All right, we gotta make sure Dante doesn't get a clean sweep, or else

Speaker B:

we're never gonna hear the end of it.

Speaker B:

Immediately.

Speaker B:

I'm ready.

Speaker C:

All right.

Speaker C:

You give your party a motivational speech so powerful that the dice feel guilty rolling low.

Speaker C:

This is basically divine peer pressure, Dante.

Speaker E:

It's something that you're guilty of casting quite a bit.

Speaker C:

Am I right?

Speaker C:

Maybe guidance.

Speaker C:

Are we got a guidance?

Speaker C:

Anybody else want to ring in?

Speaker C:

That's a good.

Speaker C:

That is a good one.

Speaker C:

That's a good guess.

Speaker C:

I want to put a little bit suspense on this one.

Speaker B:

Can you read?

Speaker B:

Can you give me.

Speaker B:

Read what you did for him.

Speaker B:

No, no more.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker C:

You want me to reread it?

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, give me a reread.

Speaker B:

I think I might.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker C:

You give your party a motivational speech so powerful that the dice feel guilty rolling low.

Speaker C:

This is basically divine peer pressure.

Speaker B:

Is it the.

Speaker B:

Is it?

Speaker B:

Is it.

Speaker B:

Oh, hold on.

Speaker B:

Is it divine favor?

Speaker C:

It is.

Speaker B:

It's not a party spell?

Speaker C:

No.

Speaker C:

All right, cj, you have a chance to steal here.

Speaker D:

Read it one more time, please.

Speaker C:

You give your party a motivational speech so powerful that the dice feel guilty rolling low.

Speaker C:

This is basically divine peer pressure.

Speaker B:

Oh, fuck, that's a hard one.

Speaker C:

You know, there's going to be somebody Sitting at home listening to the episode be like, God damn it.

Speaker C:

It's this.

Speaker B:

It's gonna be me after.

Speaker B:

After you answer it.

Speaker C:

All right, so we'll give C.J.

Speaker C:

a chance to steal, and if he doesn't get it, we'll go one more time around for you guys, I have,

Speaker D:

like, three in mind.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Is it heroism?

Speaker B:

That's a good one.

Speaker C:

It is not heroism, and it is not guidance.

Speaker C:

Hey.

Speaker C:

All right, you guys get one more go at this.

Speaker C:

I'm gonna read it one last time to you.

Speaker C:

You guys ready?

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker C:

You give your party a motivational speech so powerful that the dice feel guilty rolling low.

Speaker C:

This is basically divine peer pressure.

Speaker C:

I like that.

Speaker C:

I stumped you guys.

Speaker B:

Oh, could it.

Speaker C:

All right, good.

Speaker C:

You got the first pick on this.

Speaker B:

It's a big guess.

Speaker B:

Bless.

Speaker C:

Okay, we got a bless.

Speaker C:

Dante.

Speaker C:

It is not.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker E:

No.

Speaker B:

God, I wish it was.

Speaker E:

I feel like we talked about it with, like, one of the other ones.

Speaker E:

We did.

Speaker E:

Is it, like, divine intervention or something?

Speaker C:

Okay, I got a divine intervention.

Speaker C:

Cj, you want to give in your final guess?

Speaker E:

Is that a thing?

Speaker D:

I mean, Scud took my guess of

Speaker C:

bless, so one of those is correct.

Speaker C:

So, Scud, you got the point on that one.

Speaker C:

Since you rang in first, let's go.

Speaker B:

It was bless.

Speaker C:

It was bless.

Speaker B:

Wow.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I like that.

Speaker C:

I stump the guys on that one.

Speaker C:

I was like, that's a pretty well known spell, too.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

All right, so that's the end of the game.

Speaker C:

We have Dante 2, Scud 1, CJ0.

Speaker C:

So Dante takes the win on that one.

Speaker C:

Congrats, Dante.

Speaker C:

I was like, somebody's gotta get that.

Speaker C:

We can't have Dante doing a clean sweep.

Speaker C:

That's when the world ends soon.

Speaker B:

There was so many.

Speaker B:

I started thinking of, like, class features.

Speaker B:

I was, like, inspiring vow.

Speaker B:

And I was like, wait, no, I'm pretty sure that's not even a spell in any game.

Speaker B:

I was like, I think that's, like, a class feature.

Speaker B:

A bard got in something else.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

So, cj, unfortunately, that marks another loss for you in the column.

Speaker C:

You are now four wins and six losses.

Speaker C:

That dinner is getting awfully far away from you.

Speaker C:

It's coming to me, baby.

Speaker C:

You give me a sashimi, and I don't want it out of a truck.

Speaker C:

I don't want a truck.

Speaker E:

Sushi.

Speaker D:

Fine.

Speaker D:

I'm just gonna baby bird it to you.

Speaker C:

Oh, gosh.

Speaker B:

It is gas station stitching.

Speaker C:

Why do you guys hate me?

Speaker D:

Did you say gas station?

Speaker C:

Stushy, maybe.

Speaker C:

Don't you worry, baby.

Speaker C:

I Like my sushi in a soup.

Speaker C:

You don't know me Stitchy trademark that.

Speaker C:

I'm making a. I'm making a fusion restaurant.

Speaker C:

It's haggis sushi.

Speaker C:

All right, so we're gonna move on to the last segment of our show.

Speaker C:

It is one rule to rule them all.

Speaker C:

It's basically when you tell us when a Nat20 has come in clutch and a Nat1 made you fall on your face.

Speaker B:

These are actual Nat20 rules, right?

Speaker B:

Not like a Nat20 moment in my life.

Speaker B:

No, it's actual, like, in game, actual Nat20 moment.

Speaker B:

So we had.

Speaker B:

We were talking about it before recording.

Speaker B:

We had a PvP event one time going on, and it wasn't the first or only one we've ever done, but there was an incident where I.

Speaker B:

It was like a scripted event that the DM kind of gave us a little background, me and the other character a little bit on, and it involved a little bit of PvP.

Speaker B:

I was playing as a paladin at the time, and he was a cleric.

Speaker B:

And we had this huge, like, RP lore moment where, like, a friend of the in, like, an actual party member was, like, executed through roleplay.

Speaker C:

His character.

Speaker B:

His character didn't want it, but the player wanted to roll up a new character, so it was cool.

Speaker B:

But right afterwards, we had this, like, huge combat, and I rolled a Nat20 on the Paladin and then smited it.

Speaker B:

And I want to say I used a fifth level spell slot that I had at the time, and I pretty sure I didn't kill him, but I nearly crumpled him as, like, we had this epic duel while the rest of the party was fighting, like, guards and divine servitudes.

Speaker B:

And it was just.

Speaker B:

It was just one of those moments where you're just like, you, bad guy.

Speaker B:

You know what I mean?

Speaker B:

And it's just like, I don't care if I lose this fight.

Speaker B:

I just did so much cool, massive damage in this moment that it.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

I don't care if we lose anymore.

Speaker D:

Oh, yeah, right.

Speaker C:

At all cost.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker C:

It's not enough that I succeed.

Speaker E:

Others must fail.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Oh, man.

Speaker C:

If I'm not having a good time, no one's having a good time.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

All right, man.

Speaker C:

What do you got for that?

Speaker C:

What do you got for the other end of that one?

Speaker B:

The NAT one?

Speaker B:

It was my first character ever.

Speaker B:

Her name was Zana, and she was a ranger druid multi class in 5e.

Speaker B:

And we were still very much learning the game back then.

Speaker B:

But I remember there was, like, a character that Was dying of something in, like, a new world.

Speaker B:

And I was like, I got this.

Speaker B:

I was like, I'm telling everybody.

Speaker B:

I was like, we're gonna build this.

Speaker B:

Like, we're gonna create and craft this herbal remedy to, like, counteract this poison that's like actively killing our care, our.

Speaker B:

Our ally.

Speaker B:

And I was like, my character, I've got, like, all these bonuses.

Speaker B:

I've got some homebrewed items are dma.

Speaker B:

I was like, I've got this.

Speaker B:

We're gonna.

Speaker B:

It's gonna work out.

Speaker B:

It's all gonna be good now.

Speaker B:

Everybody behind me and everybody's like, yes, you will not fail this.

Speaker B:

And my character went out and I was told to roll a nature check to find the proper herbs and ingredients for this and that wanted it.

Speaker B:

And I just found nothing and had to return back to the camp completely, you know, empty handed and was just like, yeah, I don't.

Speaker B:

I don't know anything.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

And then he died.

Speaker B:

And everybody was like, wow, that really sucked.

Speaker B:

And I was like, yeah, you know, I don't think anybody feels any worse right now than me.

Speaker E:

And then you gotta pack up and leave.

Speaker C:

I mean, maybe the dead guy was right there.

Speaker B:

I was like, I'm gonna hop on my bear and just leave.

Speaker B:

I don't think I need to be here anymore.

Speaker B:

I think I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm done.

Speaker C:

You're like, I don't think anybody felt worse than me.

Speaker C:

I was like, I don't know.

Speaker C:

The dead guy, maybe.

Speaker B:

Well, he didn't feel anything anymore, so.

Speaker C:

Oh, my God.

Speaker C:

Too soon.

Speaker B:

We reincarnated him later, so it worked.

Speaker C:

That's fine, man.

Speaker C:

That's fine.

Speaker C:

And he died again.

Speaker C:

I mean, it could have been worse.

Speaker C:

He's gonna be like, I rolled a nat one and be like, you poisoned him.

Speaker C:

You got all the wrong herbs.

Speaker B:

I was told that there was a chance that I would have rolled not in that one, but low enough to still fail.

Speaker B:

Bad enough, I guess, that I thought I found the correct ones, which you would have thought that was in that one.

Speaker B:

And they were actually toxic to a person.

Speaker B:

But said he was like, no, you just can't find anything you think is correct, so you just give up.

Speaker B:

And I was like, God, now it's embarrassing.

Speaker B:

I think that's what he hit me with.

Speaker B:

Instead of, like, being wrong.

Speaker B:

Instead, I got nothing and was publicly embarrassed.

Speaker C:

It's that pride.

Speaker C:

Yeah, man.

Speaker C:

She's like, all right, that one.

Speaker C:

You just rub poison ivy all over

Speaker B:

him after rubbing it all over yourself too.

Speaker C:

Oh, no.

Speaker C:

All right, well, that's pretty much all the time we have for this episode.

Speaker C:

I want to say thank you to Scud from Fireball Studios for being on.

Speaker C:

It was a blast, dude.

Speaker C:

It was a great time.

Speaker C:

We're gonna have to have you on again at some point.

Speaker C:

Is there anything you got to plug you want to plug?

Speaker B:

I am doing a current Kickstarter now that will end sometime in the middle of February, but by that time it will be over on Drivethru rpg.

Speaker B:

For anybody that's interested in picking up the title of it is Magic in the Sands.

Speaker B:

It explores the elves of my world that are very big self self empowered.

Speaker B:

What's a good word?

Speaker B:

I guess they're just assholes.

Speaker B:

They're very evil in my setting.

Speaker B:

I. I'm not an elf fan in most fantasy settings I'm a dwarf and orc kind of guy.

Speaker E:

So you just dunk on them for 40 pages?

Speaker B:

I dunked on him.

Speaker B:

I did.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

For at least 40 pages.

Speaker B:

They have some redeeming qualities and I made sure to comment that on every elf in the setting is is pure evil.

Speaker B:

But there's.

Speaker B:

I don't know, 75 of them are.

Speaker B:

But in the project you can find lots of spells that's very magic focused.

Speaker B:

There's a lot of lore, a lot of back backstory.

Speaker B:

I've got some short stories written into it as well.

Speaker B:

All the art from the project is 100 human made.

Speaker B:

I work with a lot of these artists and it's all free license to use in projects but not to own.

Speaker B:

So you may see it on other content.

Speaker B:

But I. I work with a lot of these guys personally and talk to them to get the best I can piece wise for them.

Speaker B:

Should be probably a three dollar project.

Speaker B:

So if you're interested you can pick it up.

Speaker B:

Right now I think it's sitting around almost 30 pages.

Speaker B:

There's about 22 new spells in it.

Speaker B:

Pages of lore and history.

Speaker B:

There's a new sub race for elves you can play as.

Speaker B:

One of the new mechanics I brought into it was subtypings for spells.

Speaker B:

So every spell, if it does like fire damage, is that you subtypes as a fire spell.

Speaker B:

Air spells deal slashing damage.

Speaker B:

And then there's four new subclasses, one for Bard, Fighter, wizard and sorcerer that kind of are written around the lore of the the world and everything.

Speaker B:

But they also the casters of it get bonuses for using spells of certain subclasses or subtypes that they select.

Speaker B:

I'm very excited for it.

Speaker B:

I'm very excited to release it to people and get their feedback and let them experiment and see how things work.

Speaker B:

And it's only going to be stuff that gets to pop up more and more, but that should be.

Speaker B:

That's about it.

Speaker B:

I think it's just magic in the sands after that.

Speaker B:

I think I haven't told anybody yet, but I think we're going to do humans next.

Speaker B:

And I think I'm gonna.

Speaker B:

I think that's gonna be an interesting project.

Speaker C:

Nice, Nice.

Speaker C:

Speaker D:

Speaker D:
